Meet Ida, a 47 million year old fossil that scientists claim could be the missing link for the common ground of human evolution. Does this question religious beliefs though? In our strive to find the answers to our question where we came from we have to keep in mind God is as old as the universe, if not older so why should we believe that if Darwin’s theory of evolution is correct religious beliefs are not, but instead have a role to play together? The universe is always evolving, so are all species on this small pebble we call Earth in this vast space we have only yet to discover. We know many animal species have evolved over centuries and all had ancestors that no longer exist but have adapted to their surroundings in order to survive, changing with time. This we see and accept, yet we spend precious time seeking to prove if humans evolved from something different then we look today. Our structures only act as the host to our spirit as both continue to evolve over millions of years, just as our structural body adapted to our elements, and our intelligence grows from knowledge and discovery, our spirit grows from mentors before, continuing to evolve and bring us together as one, to form a common ground of body, mind and inner faith. God created man in his own image yet do we know what man really looked like at the beginning of time? The exact beginning of the human species we cannot calculate since we are still looking for the answers in which we came to be. Everyday organisms evolve, from birth to death from century to century. Who we were 300 years ago, we are not today and 300 years into the future we will not be who we are now. Our body structure may look the same but our intellectual evolution continues to grow.
If we speak of religion as prophets, saviours, and saints, we continue to find these people in our everyday lives following in the paths we hold admiration for in history. Those who can feel and see what may be to come exist, those who we consider saviours, rescuing us from ourselves as the man Jesus preached continuing to his physical end but his spirit evolved and lives on, continuing to spread the word and deeds of good and righteousness. We meet many who put their safety second changing our path in many different ways and saints, there are many in the world, those who unselfishly give their lives to help others less fortunate and in need. Belief of a specific religion we may fight over endlessly, but religion is only a part of a belief system, the good or evil of the spirit given to us that drives to be who we are is self-evident, and the choices we make comes from within, not in structural form, but in spiritual. Even finding the first fossil of which man evolved will never prove religion has never truly existed. So if we are to look at from where we came we must look at the past and the path of all those who have come before us and we must accept that humans have evolved and continue to evolve in many ways both in structure, intelligence and in spirit, with all three evolving, coming together to join as one.
