The “Fall” of 2008

2008 brought many downfalls to both the Canadian and American countries as it did around the world. Most days of 2008 was no laughing matter especially the “fall of 2008″, (no pun intended) job losses, wall street scandals, bankruptcies, bailouts, government scandals, introduction of Sarah Palin and in Canada (yes Sarah look on your other side, you can see Canada too) an early election call which showed bad taste in the Canadian conservative government. Prime Minister Harper denying a world financial downfall that would affect Canadian jobs negatively, a Coalition forming to try and oust Prime Minister Harper and his reckless Conservative government and one of the most memorable, a prorogued government shutting down Parliament at one of the most crucial times in history as job losses started to rise on the Canadian side of the border.

With all that, we had to find the humour since that’s all we were really left with in 2008 and now another year gone by of 2009 and things thankfully seem to be picking up from the doom and gloom that was left.

Here is a humourous look back at a time in history we all will never forget.

Letter to the editor—

“Thought I’d take my own action plan and help contribute to yours, Mr. PM Harper. I know it’s piling pretty high already on the steps of Parliament but you seem to enjoy shoveling it so much, thought I’d add mine to it. I have nothing else to do since I’ve been laid off and honestly whenever I read about your great future plans, my bowels start to react to it—do you feel like you’re being dumped on yet? Reporter–”Governor Palin, do you think you took your fly by hunting a bit far this time?”

GP–”Wait a minute I only shot the deer, I knew I shouldn’t have let Dick tag along with me, now the media will blame this on me too!”

Good thinking Mr. Bush, I don’t think anyone would look in here for the first $350 billion dollars of the bailout money!

and finally—the former Bush Administration decided to put some of the first half of the bailout money to good use and buy advertising space for their exit speech billboard campaign–
